This is a skilled position requiring mechanical, electrical and electronics maintenance and troubleshooting experience to install, maintain and repair all plant equipment, machinery and buildings. Use of hand and power tools, conventional machine tools, and cutting tools, material handling equipment is required, along with blueprint, drawing and schematic reading, and knowledge of codes and regulations to perform assigned work.



The electrician or electrical journeyman is responsible for installing high-quality electrical field work, servicing plant operations and taking measures to increase the company's effectiveness and efficiency.


  • Cooperate with HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) manager to implement all regulatory requirements for plant operations.
  • Performs electrical/construction maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade.
  • Installs new or upgraded electrical equipment and/or systems for the purpose of construction, tenant finishing or remodeling and completes circuits according to diagram specifications and code requirements.
  • Responds to electrical service or trouble calls, troubleshoots various problems/issues, and provides problem resolution.
  • Prepares working sketches and works from blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Estimates materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair work in a variety of skilled trades areas.
  • Excellent skills running, bending, and threading rigid galvanized and aluminum conduit. Proficiency using hydraulic benders and threaders in order to achieve.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


None. However, the "Lead or 'A' Electrician," acts as a lead to assigned crew.



Degree: High School diploma or GED and any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Completion of an apprenticeship program for electricians. Visual Color Discrimination: must be able to accurately match or detect differences among colors including shades of color and brightness. Basic computer navigation skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.



Prior experience in production and/or operations preferred. Extensive background in maintenance-related electrical work and problem-solving. Strong customer service skills. Strong background in motor control logic. Strong mechanical aptitude.




Knowledge of:

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, operations, packaging and other facilities operations.
  • Basic Record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
  • General office procedures, policies and practices, as well as basic knowledge of computer and other general office equipment.

Skill in:

  • Basic understanding of facility operations and maintenance.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Using a PC with basic level proficiency in document/file management, word-processing, database management, email usage and Internet browsers.
  • Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. Communicating clearly and effectively in English, orally and in writing.
  • Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments independently.
  • Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.

  • Simple Office Equipment; equipment requiring involved set up, adjustments and operational procedures (e.g. personal computer, scanners and digital copier, printer).
  • Hand and power tools, specialty tools. Heavy- and light-duty equipment and vehicles, two-way radio, cellular phone, PDA.   
  • Software: MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Internet Explorer, Adobe, Great Plains.



  • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk or hear. Employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; taste or smell, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Work is performed frequently in both outdoor and indoor environments. Outdoor environments include exposures to summer and winter temperatures. 
  • Work environment occasionally involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
  • Work environment occasionally involves exposure to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The employee's working conditions are typically moderately loud and occasionally very loud. Employee must be able to work schedules as assigned, including weekends, evenings and holidays, and must be available for call-out during emergencies, inclement weather or other critical events.
